ESXi 4.1 Slow Boot – SCSI Timeout Setting

Symptom

ESX 4.1 is incredibly slow to reboot.

Problem

ESXi is trying to load all of the ISCSI paths during bootup and might not be able to do so right away.

Resolution

To fix this, change theĀ Scsi.UWConflictRetries from 5000 to 1.

  1. Open the vSphere Infrastructure Client
  2. Configuration Tab
  3. Advanced Settings
  4. Scsi
  5. change the Scsi.UWConflictRetriese from 1000to 80.
